Acne improvement

Introduction

When we get acne, we feel blue, aren't we? Acne is generated by some causes such as acne bacteria, excess sebum secretion, pore troubles, and male hormone. Adolescent acne is normally caused by excess sebum secretion, while in the case of adult acne generated for adults, apart from the sebum, skin dryness which results in the clogging of pores with old keratin is said to be one of the causes.

If the sebum secretion is increased, acne bacteria grow with sebum as nutrition in the pores and thus the active oxygen increased as well. The excess generation of active oxygens induces the inflammation, which results in the generation of red acne.
As treatment methods, in addition to antimicrobial agents and the peeling provided in dermatology, skin cares such as facial cleansing and moisture retention are said to be important as well. Furthermore, because the active oxygen is one of the causes of acne, fullerene which removes active oxygens can be expected to be effective in the acne prevention.

Test of Fullerene’s Acne Improvement

Methods

After explanation of the test content, we received the cooperation of Japanese subjects suffering from acne in a controlled confirmation test. Eleven people from the 23-39 year old age range consented to be a part of the test group. The subjects suffering from acne (average age: 30.7±5.3) were asked to apply the 1% oil soluble type fullerene "LipoFullerene"-blended gel (0.4ml) twice a day, every morning and evening, after washing their face.
Before the start of the study and after 4 weeks and 8 weeks from the start of the application, the numbers of acne and the amounts of sebum and skin moisture content were examined with a doctor’s reports.

Results

The amount of acne decreased significantly after 4th week from the start of the application, and the improvement of fullerene on acne was observed. In addition, skin moisture content increased after 8th week from the start of the application, indicating that fullerene can also prevent skin drying that is one of the adult acne.
