Anti-wrinkle

Introduction

"Wrinkle" is the biggest problem for skin aging. It is said that wrinkle generates "UV" and "skin dryness".
The UV light skin exposure causes a production of active oxygen in skin. Collagen supports skin but active oxygen causes an increase in activity of collagen-degradation enzymes and promote decomposition of collagen. Once collagen supporting skin will decomposes, the skin will sag and form wrinkle. We should mention skin dryness which generates "active oxygen species" as another cause of wrinkle formation.

On the other hand, youthful skin does not create wrinkles, since more newly composed collagen are formed than lost even if collagen decomposes by eliminating active oxygen. However, when the ability to undergo collagen production declines with aging, the level of collagen decrease, and wrinkles are produce.

We can expect to prevent from forming wrinkle by eliminating active oxygen species which causes wrinkle problem with fullerene's strong anti oxidation power.

Test of Anti-Wrinkle Effect/Potency

Methods

For eight weeks, a cream product with 1% LipoFullerene® which is oil dispersion type and without LipoFullerene® were applied to either left and right half face twice a day, every morning and evening, to the skin of twenty three human test subjects (wrinkle grade 2-3, average age 39.2±4.0). The effectiveness for reducing wrinkles was evaluated by observing the change in their wrinkle area at the 4th and 8th weeks after application of the product.

*This clinical test was carried out with reference to, “Anti-wrinkle product evaluation test guidelines for acquisition of the new positive effect,” as suggested by the Japanese Cosmetic Science Society3).

Results

Changes in wrinkle-area ratio were measured and t was found that the wrinkle-area ratio of the 1% LipoFullerene® cream-applied area was significantly reduced after 8 weeks of the treatment, compared to that of without LipoFullerene® applied area.

 

This result clarified that the application of the 1% LipoFullerene®-containing cream can ameliorate wrinkles4). Moreover, a questionnaire was given to these test subjects, and five of them answered that they could feel the effect stronger when the 1% LipoFullerene® cream was applied.
