Pore Tightening

Introduction

Conspicuous pores which we feel ourselves compelled to hide with something such as foundation—do you know that the skin care removing keratin plugs only is not a root solution?

"Excessive sebum secretion, sebum oxidation, troubles of stratum corneum around the pores, darkening due to inflammation", etc. can be given as examples of the cause of conspicuous pores. In fact, these are caused by active oxygen generated by several reasons such as exposure to UV light.
It has been clarified from various studies that such the conspicuous pores can be solved by fullerene with excellent antioxidative power.

Sebum Oxidation; Test Results

For example, sebum is oxidized by exposure to UV light, and the oxidized sebum damages the skin around pores, leading to accentuating the pores. Fullerene has been found to have an effect of suppressing the oxidation of the sebum.
By UV irradiation to squalene, one of sebum components, oxidized squalene can be obtained. It was found that the oxidation of squalene could be suppressed with the addition of 2% Radical Sponge®.
As another example, one of the essential fatty acids, linoleic acid, is oxidized by heat. But it was found that the oxidation of linoleic acid could be suppressed with the addition of fullerene. It has also been found that it suppresses the oxidation of linoleic acid stronger than a common antioxidant vitamin C.

Inhibition of Pores Melanocyte Activation; Test Results

When the amount of melanin (melanocyte) around pores increases due to active oxygen, pores become noticeably darkened. Fullerene is known to suppress the activity of melanin-producing activation factor, PGE2. With exposure to UV, the amount of PGE2 increases, resulting in the increase of melanin production. It was found that the amount of PGE2 production could be decreased with the addition of Radical Sponge®.

Clinical Test #1; Results

For 2 months, a 1% Radical Sponge®-blended lotion was applied to the entire face, after facial washing, of 10 women (average age: 46) twice a day, every morning and evening, and the number of conspicuous pores in the face was measured with VISIA before the start of this test and after 2 months. It was found that the amount of conspicuous pores was reduced by 20% with the application of 1% Radical Sponge. In addition, the conspicuous pores of 80% of the test subjects were improved.

The test subjects gave us feedback with their impressions, such as "Pores became less likely to be conspicuous", "Not only pores but also skin texture were improved", "Opened pores and blackheads were improved", etc.

  

Clinical Test #2; Results

In another test using 1% Radical Sponge®-blended lotion for 3 months, the improvement of conspicuous pores of the subjects was observed.
The pore conditions were observed using a microscope before and after the 3 months-test, and found that the area of pores, which opened and were conspicuous before the test, became obviously small. Moreover, skin texture and redness as well as pores were improved.
